Safe-T-Vent Thermally-Actuated Cabinet Damper helps achieve ventilation without sacrificing cabinet integrity. Proper ventilation of odors, toxins and ignitable vapors and ignitable dust or gas is essential for the health and safety of those who work with and around flammable liquids and hazardous materials. FM-approved for use in conjunction with a Justrite safety cabinet, Safe-T-Vent is a safe, reliable, and compliant way to ventilate a safety cabinet and still maintain the cabinet’s performance in a fire. The patent-pending Safe-T-Vent connects a properly designed venting system to the cabinet using 2-inch nominal NPT Schedule 40 steel pipe. It features a fusible link that melts at 165° F and closes the valve plate in the event of a fire. This protects the cabinet and its contents by stopping the flow of air through the cabinet vents. In addition, its heavy duty stainless steel construction reduces heat transfer and provides frictional spark resistance as required for hazardous locations while brass bushings and washer reduce friction and ensure reliable valve actuation.Applications: Suitable for flammable liquid or hazardous material safety cabinets, when storing flammable liquids, pesticides, acids, corrosives or other hazardous materials. Use on any manual or self-close Justrite safety cabinet that accepts 2-inch NPT threads. Each cabinet uses two dampers, one for fresh air intake, one for exhaust to the outdoors. Install with 2-inch nominal NPT Schedule 40 steel pipe to match cabinet vents, providing non-combustible ducting and proper management of static. Reversible design eliminates installation errors—damper blocks ventilation’s flow in either direction. Please consult your professional engineer as part of the ventilation system design process.
